See every time in the last 30 days a position of yours had no stop.
NinjaTrader keeps a log on your PC: a file that records every order, fill and connection event. The free Safety Scan reads the last 30 days of it, lists every time a position had no stop order, and measures how fast each of your strategies puts its stop in place.
The Scan only reads files on your PC and sends nothing. The installed software asks our server once a day whether a newer version exists. No account, no licence key, no card. StopWarden is not open yet: leave your email at the bottom of this page and you get one message when it is.

What the Scan reports
- Position with no stop
- Reported as “no stop order seen in NinjaTrader's log for this window”: a position open for longer than Protect’s wait with no working stop covering all of it, the same wait Protect uses. With account, strategy, contract, size, start time and duration, and whether a stop was sent but rejected.
- Orphan order (a leftover order)
- A working order still resting for a while after its strategy was switched off, as the Scan counts it. It can fill later with nothing managing it.
- Connection drop
- A connection that dropped, how long until it came back, and whether a position was open. Closing a connection yourself is not counted.
- Restart with a position open
- NinjaTrader started a new session while its log still showed an open position.
- Strategy disabled (switched off)
- A strategy was disabled and not enabled again within 2 minutes.
- Stop timing per strategy
- How long positions went without a working stop (median, 90th, 95th and 99th percentile, slowest), and whether that strategy’s stops arrive fast enough for the wait used by Protect, StopWarden’s paid mode. Strategies that trade without a resting stop are named, and stay on alerts only.
What it cannot see
The Scan is only as complete as NinjaTrader’s log. It cannot see orders the broker holds that NinjaTrader never logged, and log files older than NinjaTrader keeps are not scanned. Every report ends with a list of Unknowns. A clean scan means nothing was found in the log for the window, not that nothing happened.
How it will run once StopWarden opens
You install StopWarden. The free version needs no licence key. It is not open yet, so there is nothing to install today.
Open New > StopWarden in the Control Center, go to the Scan tab and press Scan now. How long it takes depends on how many log files you have.
Press Open report to read it in your browser. It stays on your PC unless you choose to send it to support with
diagnostics --zip.
